Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

We use Your Personal Data to provide and improve the Service. We collect, use, and disclose Your information as described in this Privacy Policy and, where required by applicable law, only where We have a valid legal basis to do so, including Your consent (where consent is required).

The short version

  • You do not need an account. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking across apps or websites.
  • Your garden (plants, photos, schedules, notes) is stored only on your phone. There is no DewGrow cloud copy.
  • To name a plant and check what is wrong, the app sends your plant photos and your words to an AI service. It asks your OK first, naming the service, and the content is not stored by Us.
  • We never sell your information.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

No accounts

The Application does not have accounts. We do not ask for Your name, email address or password to use it. A Subscription is tied to a License Key on Your Device, not to a person. Because of this, most of the data described in this Privacy Policy never reaches Us at all: it stays on Your Device, or goes to a Service Provider to answer a request You made.

Personal Data You choose to give Us

If You send Us a bug report or an idea, You may add an email address so We can reply. That is the only time We ask for a way to contact You, and it is optional.

Usage Data

When You use a Subscription, Our server counts the requests made under Your License Key and their size (numbers only) so We can run and price the Service. Every route on Our server is rate limited by Internet Protocol address (IP address) for a few minutes to limit abuse; the IP address is not stored with any record. When You visit the Website, Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles the request and may process Your IP address and browser type in the ordinary way a web server does. We do not run analytics on the Website.

Information Collected While Using the Application

While using Our Application, in order to provide features of Our Application, We may collect, with Your prior permission:

  • Pictures and other information from Your Device's camera and photo library
  • Information regarding Your approximate location
  • Speech from Your Device's microphone, which Your Device turns into text

We use this information to provide features of Our Service. Pictures and the words You type or say are sent to an AI Service Provider to answer Your request and are not stored by Us. Your approximate location (town, county and state) goes with each AI request so the advice fits Your weather, and rounded coordinates (about half a mile) go to the weather service for rain and frost alerts. Your exact position never leaves Your Device.

You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through Your Device settings or in the Application's Settings.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, web beacons or any tracking across sites or apps. The Website sets no cookies. The Application stores Your settings and Your License Key in its own storage on Your Device so that the Application works; that storage is not used to track You.

Information Specific to DewGrow

  • Your garden. The plants You add, their photos, care schedules, check ins, history, notes and settings are stored only on Your Device. We make no copy of them. Your phone's own backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud on iPhone) may include the Application's data; that copy belongs to Your Google or Apple account, not to Us, and We cannot see it. The Application's Export my data feature makes a backup file that You keep wherever You choose.
  • Plant checks (AI processing). When You ask the Application to name a plant or check what is wrong, Your plant photos, the words You type or say about the plant, and Your town, county and state are sent to an AI provider. Hidden location data is removed from photos before they leave Your Device. With a Subscription, the request goes through Our server (api.dewgrow.com) to Anthropic as Our Service Provider; Our server passes the request along, returns the answer, and does not keep the photos, the words or the answer. With Your own key, the request goes straight from Your Device to the provider whose key You added (Google Gemini, Groq or Pl@ntNet), under Your own agreement with that provider; Your keys stay on Your Device in secure storage and are never sent to Us. Before anything is sent to an AI provider for the first time, the Application shows who will receive it and what is sent, and sends nothing unless You tap Allow.
  • Weather. If You have outdoor plants and weather alerts are on, Your rounded location (about half a mile) is sent to the US National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) to check for rain and frost. Nothing else about You is sent.
  • Speech. If You tap the microphone, Your Device's own speech service turns Your words into text. Depending on Your Device, that service may send audio to Apple or Google under their terms. Only the text is used by the Application.
  • Local help list. The Application may download an updated list of county extension offices from Our server. Nothing about You is sent with that request.
  • Subscriptions. Paid plans are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive Your plan and a reference to the store purchase so We can confirm it is still active, never Your name or payment card details. Our server keeps a license record: the License Key, its status, the plan, the store reference and the monthly usage counts. It contains no name, email or garden data.
  • Flagged answers. AI answers have a flag button. If You use it, the Application sends that answer's text, the reason You picked, Your optional note, and which AI service wrote it to Our server so We can review it. A report contains no License Key, name or garden data.
  • Bug reports and ideas. You can report a bug or suggest an improvement from the Application's Settings. We receive only what is in the form: Your message, Your email address if You choose to give one (used only to reply to You), the Application version and Device type, and the Application's troubleshooting log if You leave that box ticked. The log lists what the Application was doing (AI calls and timings, errors), with any keys removed before sending, and never includes Your garden.
  • Reminders. Care reminders and weather alerts are worked out and scheduled on Your Device. Nothing about them is sent to Us.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain Our Service, including to answer the requests You make in the Application and to keep Your Subscription working.
  • For the performance of a contract: the development, compliance and undertaking of the purchase contract for the Subscription You have purchased or of any other contract with Us through the Service.
  • To contact You: to reply to a bug report or an idea when You gave Us an email address for that purpose.
  • To manage Your requests: to attend and manage Your requests to Us, including requests to delete data.
  • To improve the Service: to find and fix harmful or wrong AI answers, to fix bugs, and to understand how much the Service is used so We can run and price it.
  • For business transfers: We may use Your Personal Data to evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which Personal Data held by Us about Our Service users is among the assets transferred.

We do not send marketing email. We do not use Your data to build a profile of You or to show You advertising.

We may share Your Personal Data in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We share data with the Service Providers named in this Privacy Policy only as needed to answer Your requests, confirm Your Subscription and host the Service.
  • For business transfers: We may share or transfer Your Personal Data in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business to another company.
  • With Affiliates: We may share Your Personal Data with Our Affiliates, in which case We will require those Affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
  • With Your consent: We may disclose Your Personal Data for any other purpose with Your consent.

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with Our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Our legal agreements and policies.

Unless otherwise stated, the retention periods below are maximum periods ("up to") and We may delete data sooner when it is no longer needed:

  • Your garden, photos, settings and keys: on Your Device only, for as long as You keep them. We hold no copy.
  • AI request content (photos, words, answers): not stored by Us. Processed to answer Your request and then discarded by Our server.
  • License record: kept while Your Subscription is active and until You use Erase me in the Application or ask Us to delete it. Monthly usage counts are kept up to 13 months so We can see a year of use, then deleted automatically.
  • Flagged answers: up to 12 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Bug reports and ideas (including an email address or log You added): up to 2 years, then deleted automatically.
  • Rate limit counters (IP address): a few minutes, then deleted automatically.

We may retain Personal Data beyond the periods stated above where the law requires it, where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or where it exists in backup systems that are scheduled for routine deletion. When retention periods expire, Personal Data is removed from Our systems.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. This means that this information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of Your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of Your jurisdiction.

Where required by applicable law, We will ensure that international transfers of Your Personal Data are subject to appropriate safeguards. The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and no transfer of Your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place, including the security of Your data and other personal information.

Delete Your Personal Data

You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You.

You can delete everything on Your Device, and Your license record and usage counts on Our server, at any time in the Application (Settings, Erase me). Uninstalling the Application also deletes everything stored on Your Device. The steps, and how to ask Us to delete a record when You can no longer use the Application, are at https://dewgrow.com/delete-data.

Deleting Your data does not cancel a Subscription bought through Apple or Google; cancel it with the store as well.

Please note, however, that We may need to retain certain information when We have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions. If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Law Enforcement. Under certain circumstances, the Company may disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (for example, a court or a government agency).

Other Legal Requirements. The Company may disclose Your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of the Company
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
  • Protect the personal safety of Users of the Service or the public
  • Protect against legal liability

Security of Your Personal Data

All network traffic between the Application, Our server and Our Service Providers uses encryption (HTTPS). Keys and the License Key are stored in Your Device's secure storage. Our server holds only what is listed above. The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Sources of Personal Information

  • Directly from You. For example, the photos and words You send with a plant check, the location You set in the Application, and the bug reports, ideas and flagged answers You choose to send.
  • Automatically from You. For example, the request counts recorded under Your License Key as You use a Subscription.
  • From Service Providers. For example, the purchase reference the Apple App Store or Google Play gives Us to confirm a Subscription.

  • As described to You when collecting Your personal information or as otherwise set forth in the CCPA/CPRA.
  • For internal administrative and auditing purposes.
  • To detect security incidents and protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, including, when necessary, to prosecute those responsible for such activities.

If We decide to collect additional categories of Personal Information or use the Personal Information We collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes, We will update this Privacy Policy.

  • Category A: Identifiers
  • Category D: Commercial information
  • Category F: Internet or other similar network activity
  • Category G: Geolocation data
  • Category H: Sensory data

The categories listed above are those defined in the CCPA/CPRA. Listing a category does not mean that every type of information it describes was in fact disclosed. It means only that, to the best of Our knowledge, some information within that category may be, or may have been, disclosed.

When We disclose Personal Information to a Service Provider or contractor for a business purpose, We enter into a contract that describes the purpose, requires the recipient to keep that Personal Information confidential, and prohibits the recipient from using it for any purpose other than the limited and specified purposes stated in the contract, consistent with the CCPA/CPRA.

Categories of Recipients to Whom We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose, and may have disclosed in the preceding twelve (12) months, the categories of Personal Information identified below to the following categories of recipients for the business purposes described in this Privacy Policy:

Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

As defined in the CCPA/CPRA, "sell" and "sale" mean selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a Consumer's personal information by the Business to a third party for valuable consideration. As defined in the CCPA/CPRA, "share" and "sharing" mean disclosing, making available, or otherwise communicating a Consumer's personal information by the Business to a third party for cross context behavioral advertising, whether or not for monetary or other valuable consideration.

We have not sold or shared Personal Information of California residents in the preceding twelve (12) months, and We do not sell or share Personal Information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose Personal Information to Service Providers and contractors under written contracts that restrict their use of that information, and otherwise only as described in this Privacy Policy and as permitted by the CCPA/CPRA.

Retention of Personal Information

We retain California residents' Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, taking into account: (i) how long We need the information to provide and maintain the Service and Your Subscription; (ii) whether You have requested deletion (subject to applicable exceptions); (iii) Our legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations; (iv) security, fraud prevention, and abuse monitoring needs; and (v) the time periods needed to resolve disputes and enforce Our agreements.

Specific retention periods for major data categories are described in the "Retention of Your Personal Data" section of Our Privacy Policy, and We may retain certain information longer where required or permitted by law.

Personal Information of Minors Under 16 Years of Age

We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 16 through Our Service, although certain third party websites that We link to may do so. These third party websites have their own terms of use and privacy policies and We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and instruct their children to never provide information on other websites without their permission.

We do not sell the Personal Information of any Consumer, including Consumers We actually know are less than 16 years of age. If You have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 has provided Us with personal information, please contact Us with sufficient detail to enable Us to delete that information.

Your Rights under the CCPA/CPRA

The CCPA/CPRA provides California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information. If You are a resident of California, You have the following rights:

  • The right to notice. You have the right to be notified which categories of Personal Information are being collected and the purposes for which the Personal Information is being used.
  • The right to know/access. Under CCPA/CPRA, You have the right to request that We disclose information to You about Our collection, use, sale, disclosure for business purposes and sharing of personal information. Once We receive and confirm Your request, We will disclose to You the categories of personal information We collected about You, the categories of sources for it, Our business or commercial purposes for collecting it, the categories of third parties with whom We share it, and the specific pieces of personal information We collected about You.
  • The right to say no to the sale or sharing of Personal Information (opt out). You have the right to direct Us to not sell Your personal information. We do not sell or share Personal Information; see the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" section.
  • The right to correct Personal Information. You have the right to correct or rectify any inaccurate personal information about You that We collected. Once We receive and confirm Your request, We will use commercially reasonable efforts to correct (and direct Our Service Providers to correct) Your personal information, unless an exception applies.
  • The right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive Personal Information. You have the right to request to limit the use or disclosure of certain sensitive personal information We collected about You, unless an exception applies. We do not collect sensitive Personal Information; see the "Limit the Use or Disclosure of My Sensitive Personal Information" section.
  • The right to delete Personal Information. You have the right to request the deletion of Your Personal Information under certain circumstances, subject to certain exceptions. Once We receive and confirm Your request, We will delete (and direct Our Service Providers to delete) Your Personal Information from Our records, unless an exception applies. We may deny Your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for Us or Our Service Providers to complete the transaction for which We collected it, detect security incidents, debug products, exercise free speech or another right provided for by law, comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 et seq.), enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations, comply with a legal obligation, or make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which You provided it.
  • The right not to be discriminated against. You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of Your consumer rights, including by denying goods or services to You, charging different prices or rates, providing a different level or quality of goods or services, or suggesting that You will receive a different price, rate, level or quality.

Exercising Your CCPA/CPRA Data Protection Rights

In order to exercise any of Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and if You are a California resident, You can contact Us by email at admin@cardrama.gg.

We may verify Your identity before responding to requests to know, delete, or correct Personal Information, as permitted or required by applicable law. Because the Service has no accounts, the License Key shown in the Application is how We tell that a license record is Yours. Only You or an authorized agent acting on Your behalf may make a verifiable request relating to Your Personal Information.

Your request to Us must provide sufficient information that allows Us to reasonably verify You are the person about whom We collected Personal Information or an authorized representative, and describe Your request with sufficient detail that allows Us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it. We cannot respond to Your request or provide You with the required information if We cannot verify Your identity or authority to make the request and confirm that the personal information relates to You.

No later than 10 business days after receiving a request to know, delete, or correct, We will confirm receipt and provide general information about how We will process and verify the request and when You should expect a response, unless We have already granted or denied the request. We will respond no later than 45 calendar days after receipt. If reasonably necessary, We may extend the response period once by an additional 45 calendar days. If We do, We will notify You during the initial 45 day period and explain the reason for the extension.

Unless You request a longer period, Our response to a request to know will cover the preceding 12 months. For data portability requests, We will select a format to provide Your personal information that is readily usable and should allow You to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We have not sold or shared Personal Information of California residents in the preceding twelve (12) months, and We do not sell or share Personal Information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA.

If Our practices change, We will update this Privacy Policy, provide the required "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link and opt out methods, and honor opt out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC).

Limit the Use or Disclosure of My Sensitive Personal Information

We do not collect or use sensitive Personal Information for purposes other than those specified in the CCPA/CPRA and its implementing regulations, and We do not collect or process sensitive Personal Information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about consumers. Accordingly, We are not required to provide, and do not provide, a method for submitting requests to limit the use or disclosure of sensitive Personal Information. If Our practices change, We will update this Privacy Policy and provide the required means to exercise this right.

"Do Not Track" Policy as Required by California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

Our Service does not respond to Do Not Track signals, because it does not track You in the first place.

However, some third party websites do keep track of Your browsing activities. If You are visiting such websites, You can set Your preferences in Your web browser to inform websites that You do not want to be tracked.
